Welcome

swbMoved in Sundry Places is a spin-off blog from Get Better Mary Elizabeth, which I started in 2009 shortly after my wife suffered a stroke on a train platform in London. Separated from home and family by 3,000 miles, the blog became a vehicle for posting updates on Mary Elizabeth’s progress and provide friends, family and colleagues a forum for posting messages of support.

232 posts, 2,697 comments and 137,512 visits later, the blog has become more of an outlet for me to reflect on issues of family, caregiving and adjusting (or not) to our post-stroke life. I’ve cross-posted entries from GBME which fit this criteria and to provide some background for new readers.

Moved in Sundry Places is a place for reflection on these topics and more, and Get Better Mary Elizabeth will continue to provide updates on our progress.  I hope that separating these two perspectives into two distinct blogs will enable me to become more productive and serve several audiences.  I’ll also continue my humor and satire blog, Schmeherazade.

I’m a marketing director by day and father of three school-aged children living in suburban New York City.  The rest you’ll learn by reading through the blog.

A note about the title.  “Moved in Sundry Places” is drawn from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer for the Episcopal Church – “The Scripture moveth us, in sundry places, to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness.”

And I took the header photo a number of years ago at dawn in Blue Mounds State Park in western Minnesota.
